Sony's mini is going big - Xperia Z2 compact, coming soon

Is ‘compact’ still used properly here?
Apparently, Sony is in a big hurry. With just 3 months since the Xperia Z1 Compact was officially introduced at MWC 2014, the Japanese company seems to be working at their new generation of compact smartphones. And that’s pretty weird, as the Z1 Compact is actually a top-notch phone, but with a smaller body.
A new Sony model has been spotted on the FCC website, called SO-04F, reported as a Japanese version of a mini handset. Considering that the Xperia Z2 was codenamed SO-02F, it’s very likely that the handset is actually the Compact version of Sony’s current flagship.
There’s nothing specified about the specs, but we have some details about the size of the Xperia Z2 Compact, which will measure 127.6 mm x 65.5 mm, meaning that it will pack a slightly larger device, 4.5″ to be more specific. Could this mean a resolution bigger than 720p too?
I’m pretty sure that this phone will become one of my personal favorites after the launch, mostly because of the top-specs-and-not-a-huge-screen combination, so we’ll keep you updated as soon as anything new comes up.
