Hey, Apple! Are you going to make a smartwatch after all?
According to some recent reports, Apple will team up with Nike’s Fuelband division, in order to release a new products before the Christmas season. No, it’s not the rumored smartwatch everybody is expecting, but a wristband.
This is pretty weird, as all of its main competitors already released or at least gave some official information about Android-based smartwatches. But hey, who knows, maybe the Cupertino-based company has one in the works too.
Apparently, the wristband, or smart band, as they like to call it, will come with sensors for monitoring user activity and connect to iDevices, using gesture controls.
Nike will also play an important part in the development of this device, as it will provide the fitness software. We do know that the sportswear company has some background in this area, and the partnership seems to be a great move.
Everything above is based on rumors, so take everything with a pinch of salt. We’ll be back as soon as anything official comes up.
