Confirmed by Samsung: No KitKat for International S3 and S3 Mini

Confirmed by Samsung: No KitKat for International S3 and S3 Mini

| On 12, May 2014

Sorry guys, you’re skipping dessert.

Bad news for the owners of the international versions of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and S3 Mini. The Android 4.4 KitKat won’t be available for their phones, according a statement by the South Korean Manufacturer.

Both phones have just 1 GB of RAM, which apparently “does not allow them to effectively support the platform upgrade”. Personally, I find this very weird, as when Google introduced the new operating system, it was said that it’s able to run on less powerful phones too, and 512 MB of RAM should be enough. Also, the update is present on phones with less than 1 GB of RAM, released in 2014, like the Galaxy Ace Style.

Anyway, if you have the LTE version of the S3, which sports 2 GB of RAM, you’re lucky, as the update for your phone will start rolling out soon.
